The Bi-Weekly Option

Okay.
This blog entry will be a bit scattered.
The baby grand piano
arrives at the church this morning.
I have a new child in the choir
that I must prepare a new folder for.
I give lessons this afternoon.
Last minute parade preps .. .
So yeah,
I’m a bit scattered this morning. . .

I am the Piano lady.
I teach at Little Piano House.
I teach at COMPAS,
Center of Music and Performing Arts Southwest.
I taught for awhile
at Garage Cultural
(also in SW Detroit).
But I’m also the church choir director.

Some of my piano students
will be walking
in the Wyandotte Christmas Parade with me,
but I also invited
some of the children from the choir
to walk with us
to shake maracas
and help keep the beat
with the piano Christmas music
that will be playing
on my Roland amp
that will be connected
to the lighter in my car.
(wow! Is that one sentence?
I told you I’m a bit scattered today!!)

The Amazing Miss Wendy
is both a piano student
and a member
of the children’s choir.
She’s a very talented young lady
who may one day
replace me as choir director
and piano teacher.
It wouldn’t surprise me
if she became
very famous sometime in the future. . .

Anyway,
as I was inviting the children
from the choir to participate
it turns out
that one of the girls from choir
wants to take piano lessons also
but didn’t know I teach.
She was excited that I invited her
to be in the parade.

Marlen
is one of those children
with a pretty full schedule.
When I invited her to the parade
she said, “Oh yes,
My mom wants me to be in everything.”

After speaking with her mother
we came up with a plan
to fit a busy schedule:
Piano lessons every other week.

Will she still learn?
Yes!
This wouldn’t be lessons
with high pressure to perform,
but a laid back approach
to learn the art of piano.
So what if she takes it slow?
She will still learn.
And she won’t need
to give up swimming
to take piano lessons.
Her other activities
may change with the seasons,
but piano will be
every other week
all year long.

We haven’t set up a schedule yet
and I’m inclined to think
we probably won’t get started
until after Christmas.

But you know,
amidst my scattered thinking
(and blogging) this week,
a marvelous idea was born:
Bi-weekly piano lessons.

Lessons every other week
could fit your schedule
and your budget.

So,
are you ready for your first piano lesson?
