Wyandotte Woman's 'Angel' Son Inspires Business

Kathy Slack, owner of Angel & Rainbow Inspirations, said she started her Wyandotte business in July 2012.

How did your business get started? Angel & Rainbow Inspirations was founded in Wyandotte in July 2012. I am a mom of 4 living children and an angel. My son Nicholas grew his wings in 2007. On my journey of grief and hope, I have met some of the most AMAZING ladies along the way, other moms who have lost baby sons and daughters to SIDS, SMA,CHD, cancers and many other causes. These ladies are my "angel moms" and are some of the finest human beings I know. I get inspiration through them, their angels and their rainbows or quest for a rainbow. I first started doing tutus after buying a pair at a local Mom 2 Mom sale. I paid a ridiculous amount of money to get them home, only to find out that the "baby" sized one did not fit my daughter even though the lady insisted it would. I took it apart, rebuilt it and the rest is history. I made my daughters an entire wardrobe of tutus and from there it moved on to friends at her dance classes....finally, here I am. I love what I do and I take every order seriously. Anything from a flower clip to custom work gets my complete attention. I love what I do!

What products does your business provide? Fine quality hand crafted custom tutus, tutu dresses, tulle wreaths, mini purses, the crochet wine glass holders at the Wine Crawl and hair accessories for your little diva for dress up, dance classes or any time! Anything from team colored tutus to character tutus.....any occasion and there is a tutu or hair accessory for it!

What do you want your business to be best known for? I generally like some notice to do custom orders, but have worked on short notice. I am dedicated to providing only the highest quality of work. I have made tutus for newborns to full figured women paying attention to every detail along the way.

What's your most popular product? My custom orders are quite popular. A custom tutu just adds a little more "bling" when you are going for a certain look. I have even wore a tutu at a couple of 3rd Friday events. They are fun and sassy!

Why did you choose the location that you did? It's my home, I have a work area set up. I can be with my kids and work anytime the needs hit. I love being in Wyandotte. I do have a Facebook page. I am also a proud member of the WBA. For the last 3 months my business has been at 3rd Friday events in Downtown Wyandotte and am excited to participate in many more events to come.
